Sports Centre in Heidelberg, Germany
On the grounds of a former United States barracks in Heidelberg, a multifunctional large sports centre with 5,000 grandstand seats, a business club for 250 visitors, six boxes and 140 business seats has been built. Catering areas with reheatable kitchens, satellite kitchens, kiosks and four office units are also part of the complex. The arena is used by MLP Academics Heidelberg as their home for the German Basketball League and the Rhein-Neckar Löwen as a venue for games in the German Handball Cup competition. It is also a venue for cultural events and for public school and club sports.
Julius Berger International was commissioned for project management and quality assurance in accordance with AHO project stage 4 in the execution phase up to placing into operation. We supported the client in meeting various challenges in order to ensure the success of the project with regard to the crucial aspects of time, cost and quality. Key elements in the cooperation were the enforcement of contractual obligations, timely change and decision management, anticipatory quality controls and consistent defect management of the construction work to ensure an efficient acceptance process and a regulated, on-schedule transition to commissioning were achieved.
