Julius Berger International wouldn’t be a company and employer of such standing without the eagerness to learn that is ingrained in us all. We are ready to evolve constantly, to try out new things and to integrate new knowledge into existing processes. This approach guides us, which is why we are always delighted to meet young talent with fresh ideas and perspectives, who are capable of critically assessing established structures and making constructive suggestions. At the same time, we strive to provide younger staff with expert and in-depth training and, as your mentor, help you make the first step onto the career ladder. We work in partnership with numerous universities and higher education institutions and support students as part of the Deutschlandstipendium scheme. It’s a win-win scenario: you benefit from having access to a company proficient in training sharing its knowledge with you, while we benefit from your energy and impetus as a young professional.

I have a great capacity for spatial thinking

“I am currently in the third year of my vocational training as a drafter (engineering construction). After I submitted my application, the invitation to complete the recruitment test came relatively quickly. The test was easy – I have always been fond of maths and physics. I also have a great capacity for spatial thinking that helped me a lot. Shortly after the test I received an invitation to attend an interview. You can imagine how nervous I was, but the atmosphere was extremely friendly and pleasant.

My vocational training is brilliant. It’s great to be taught at a training building site, which is paid for by the company. That’s not always the case with other companies. At the training building site we try our hand at tasks involving other trades such as bricklaying, carpentry or road construction. This gives us a better idea of the procedures on a real building site. I have two instructors and one supervisor in my department. They are always here to help when I have a question or a problem.”

Construction never stops. It's a key part of our world.

“I was already working for Julius Berger International as a working student while at university. After completing my bachelor degree in architecture and a master’s degree in construction and property management, I began working here full time as an engineer. I enjoy a great deal of freedom when it comes to my work, and I am assigned to a range of projects.

This means that the focus of my work is always changing, from situational analysis and execution planning to site inspection – it remains exciting and versatile. The complexity of the tasks makes it interesting and the wide range of services offered by the company opens the door to many opportunities.

Over time I noticed a desire to work at higher service stages in projects, away from planning and more toward project management and site coordination. I will soon be attending a construction management seminar, which is something my boss suggested I should do. My aim in my career is to coordinate projects and take responsibility.”
