Urban district development in Egypt's cultural center

As part of the newly emerging 6th of October City, an innovative and modern city district is emerging, named Badya - The Creative City in the west of Cairo. It is planned that over the next few years, Badya will be include housing for around 150,000 residents - built on an area covering approximately 1,300 hectares.

As a smart and vibrant city, Badya will include a variety of local amenities, cultural and leisure facilities, as well as workspaces for up to 48,000 people, in addition to different types of housing and office structures. The master plan, developed by a renowned Frankfurt-based architectural and urban planning firm, is characterized by short travel distances, an efficient public transport system and interconnected green zones, thus living up to Badya's claim to be an accessible, environmentally conscious, progressive and cultural city.

Julius Berger International was commissioned by the project’s architectural and urban planning firm to provide a design review of the development plan for the urban expansion area, which was drafted by an Egyptian planning firm. The thorough design review covered both the strategic development plan and the master plan concept for the development of the 1,300-hectare urban area, as well as the infrastructure planning for the first construction phase, which covers 126 hectares.

Our experienced engineers evaluated the proposed designs in careful consideration of the project's requirements and considering the trades requirements for site modeling, traffic facilities, storm drainage, drinking water supply, irrigation, wastewater disposal, power supply and communications. The comprehensive and systematic examination of the designs provided an important basis for the continued successful implementation of the project.
