Badya City sustainability scheme in Cairo, Egypt
Palm Hills Developments, a renowned Egyptian real estate company, is undertaking an impressive new district in the west of Cairo named "Badya – The Creative City." This ambitious project spans approximately 1,300 hectares and aims to create space for around 150,000 future residents.
Julius Berger International has been initially entrusted by Palm Hills Developments with the project management for Phase 1A, covering 140 hectares. This phase includes not only infrastructure development but also the construction of multi-story residential buildings, as well as various types of houses and villas with a total area of nearly 750,000 square meters GFA.
Badya is an outstanding project for the customer with great market potential. Those managing the project not only attach great importance to the highest standards in terms of functionality and construction quality, but also to sustainability. In the course of the collaboration, Julius Berger International was also commissioned to revise key sustainability aspects of the original planning due to its broad service portfolio. This involved an analysis on three levels: From the individual building to the district to the overall urban level. The optimization integrates ecological aspects, improves social benefits and achieves maximum economic efficiency.
The realization of an entire urban district is a long-term and highly complex undertaking. Various challenges along the entire construction value chain await customized solutions during the project. The client values Julius Berger International as a reliable partner with expertise in all trades and the necessary company size to be flexible in responding to the dynamic requirements of the project at all times.
