The project embraced the installation of a comprehensive rain water management system commissioned by the State Government of the Nigerian federal state of Akwa Ibom.
To this end, a drainage master plan was established for the state capital, Uyo.
In this context, main collecting pipes totalling 3.55 km length and diameter 2,000 mm were designed for construction using the pipe-jacking method.
At a depth of more than 20 m and with shafts up to 12 m width, made of secant concrete pile walls, an environmentally friendly, long-term solution emerged amidst a challenging topographical location.
